Booking choice: The classic Vesuvius and Pompeii day trip, from $149 per person. Check dates Tour details
The Archaeological Park of Pompeii changed its prices on 12 January 2026. The basic ticket went to EUR 20, the version with the suburban villas to EUR 25, and the three-day pass to EUR 30. Since 2 March 2026 the park's online tickets are sold on Vivaticket, not TicketOne.
None of the older rules went away: tickets carry your name, the park admits at most 20,000 people a day, and in the warm months entries run on time slots. Here is how it all fits together, with links to the park's own pages.
The quick answer
A Pompeii Express ticket costs EUR 20 in 2026 and Pompei+ (with the Villa of the Mysteries) EUR 25. Under-18s enter free, and EU citizens aged 18 to 24 pay EUR 2. Tickets are in your name, so carry ID. Buy them online on Vivaticket or at the ticket offices. Every tour on this site except the shuttle includes the ticket.
How much is a Pompeii ticket in 2026?
EUR 20 for Pompeii Express, EUR 25 for Pompei+, EUR 30 for three days and EUR 45 for the MyPompeii card, from 12 January 2026.
The park announced the new admission fees from 12 January 2026 at the start of the year. Its timetables and tickets page lists the full range below. Single tickets are valid for one entry: you can't leave and come back in on the same ticket.
For a first visit, the EUR 20 Express ticket is plenty. The guided walks on the tours here spend about two hours inside the ancient city and don't go out to the villas. Pay the extra EUR 5 for Pompei+ only if you'll walk out to the Villa of the Mysteries on your own.
| Ticket | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pompeii Express | EUR 20 | The ancient city, one entry |
| Pompei+ | EUR 25 | The city plus the suburban villas (Villa of the Mysteries, Villa Diomedes), Villa Regina and the Boscoreale Antiquarium |
| 3-day ticket | EUR 30 | Pompei+ plus the Oplontis and Stabiae sites, one entry each, over 3 days |
| Single other site | EUR 8 | Boscoreale, Oplontis or the Stabiae museum |
| MyPompeii card | EUR 45 | A year of visits |
Who gets into Pompeii free or for EUR 2?
Everyone under 18 enters free, EU citizens aged 18 to 24 pay EUR 2, and everyone gets in free on the first Sunday of each month.
The fee announcement keeps free entry for under-18s and for all visitors on the first Sunday of the month, and the EUR 2 reduced ticket for European citizens aged 18 to 24. The Stabiae villas, Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco, are free too.
One catch with tours. A child enters Pompeii for nothing, but a tour still charges a child rate for the transport, the guide and lunch. On the classic day children 4 to 6 pay less and adults start at 7; on the Elite tour the child rate runs from 4 to 12. The free first Sunday has its own post: free first Sundays in 2026-27.
Why does a Pompeii ticket need my name and ID?
Since 15 November 2024 every Pompeii ticket is nominative: it carries the holder's name, and you show ID or a passport when you buy it.
The park introduced named tickets on 15 November 2024 for every ticket type, online or at the office, and asks visitors for an ID or passport. A ticket in someone else's name isn't yours to use.
Tour operators handle this for you, which is why they ask for details in advance. Project Napoli Service, which runs the classic day and the Pompeii half day, requires an ID photo of the lead traveler, and Askos Tours asks every guest on its minibus day to bring a passport or ID.

Is there a daily limit or a time slot for Pompeii?
Yes. Pompeii admits at most 20,000 people a day, and from 16 March to 14 October entries are split into a morning and an afternoon slot.
The park's ticket page caps admissions at 20,000 a day. In the summer season, 16 March to 14 October, the morning slot from 9:00 to 13:00 takes up to 15,000 entries and the afternoon slot from 13:00 to 17:30 takes up to 5,000. From 15 October to 15 March there are no slots, but the daily cap stays.
For a summer date, buy online and early: the afternoon slot has a third of the morning's places.
| Period | Slot | Maximum entries |
|---|---|---|
| 16 March to 14 October | 9:00 to 13:00 | 15,000 |
| 16 March to 14 October | 13:00 to 17:30 | 5,000 |
| 15 October to 15 March | No slots | 20,000 for the day |
Where do you buy official Pompeii tickets in 2026?
Online on Vivaticket, the park's platform since 2 March 2026, or at the ticket offices at the entrances.
The park moved its online sales to Vivaticket on 9 February 2026, and from 2 March 2026 every date is sold there; TicketOne handled dates up to 1 March. Ticket offices still sell at the site, and there are three entrances: Porta Marina, Piazza Anfiteatro and Piazza Esedra.
Compare any ticket offer with the official prices on the park's ticket page before you pay.

Both tickets included, a live archaeologist in Pompeii and a minibus of 16 at most, from Piazza Garibaldi.
